The 4th BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF LONDON

We love our international cinema at Soho Shorts, and as we move into the autumn, there are some great opportunities coming up to be transported away to foreign climes, via the big screen. We begin, then, with the 4th Brazilian Film Festival of London.

Fernando Meirelles’ latest feature Xingu will make its premiere on 25th September, as part of the festival, which takes place at Odeon Panton Street, between 21 and 25 September. The film, produced by Meirelles (360) and directed by Cao Hamburger (The Year my Parents went on Vacation), tells the true story of three brothers who give up their comfortable lives to embark on a trailblazing mission through Central Brazil in the 40s.

Xingu will wrap up the festival which line-up includes other 11 features and 12 shorts, representing the finest of contemporary Brazilian film production. The festival director Adriana Dutra says: “This year’s selection is simply fantastic! It’s been a long time since I saw such a significant production! I am very happy with the curatorship. The festival will rock!”

The 4th Brazilian Film Festival runs between 21 – 25 September, and is based at the Odeon, Panton Street.
